Nearly 100 people were in attendance at the annual CETC business meeting held at the Seattle Convention Center during TESOL 2007. Here are a few important items from the meeting:

The caucus expressed their deep gratitude to Eleanor Pease (Chair, 2006-2007), Karen Asenavage (Past Chair, 2006-2007), and Mary Wong (for her work on numerous TESOL committees). Also Kathryn Bartholomew and the faculty, staff, and students were thanked for their role in hosting the 2007 CELT conference held at Seattle Pacific University on March 20, 2007. Plenary speakers David Smith (Calvin College) and Suresh Canagarajah (Baruch College, CUNY) were also recognized during the meeting.

CETC welcomed the new leadership team for 2007-2008. The new Chair is Gena Bennett from Whidbey Island (WA). The Past Chair is Eleanor Pease from Nyack College (NY). Incoming Chair is Michael Pasquale from Cornerstone University (MI). The newsletter co-editors are Michael Lessard-Clouston from Biola University (CA) and Meredith Bricker from Georgia State University. Anne Bruehler will serve as the e-list coordinator and she is from Indiana Wesleyan University. Anne Bruehler will be taking over as e-list moderator on April 1 and will be reestablishing the monthly e-list discussion. Look forward to the discussion topic in your inbox and share and discuss with your CETC colleagues!

There are many ways for caucus members to serve within CETC. One area to serve is within several new working committees as initiated by our Chair, Gena Bennett. A Resources and Bibliography working group will put together a list of materials and sources that have been written by members of our caucus or will help our educational or ministry situation. A CETC Mission Statement and Caucus Documents working committee will draft new documents as needed (e.g., job descriptions for the leadership) and update our existing documents (e.g., the caucus mission statement). A CETC Affiliate working committee will investigate the possibility of establishing local or regional CETC affiliates. Finally, a CELT 2008 planning team needs to be in place to help Eleanor Pease and staff organize the CELT conference at Nyack College next year. There is also a call for contributions for the CETC newsletter and website. The newsletter is looking for feature articles, book reviews, and other information that would be of help to our caucus.
